I planted a garden today. I greatly underestimated the time and endurance it would take to fulfill such a task. I am not good with a shovel. I'm weak. You'd think that with a job requiring the lifting and turning of 400lb people I would be a little stronger than I am. Guess not! My father never made me work in the yard as a child. My mother kept me indoors to teach me the finer points of cleaning toilet bowls and baking cookies... both tasks at which I am an expert.
A very good friend gave me some help and I was able to clear an area in my back yard for planting. The small plants currently look very sad amongst such a large open area. However, this leaves them plenty of room for growth. If I am able to yield at least one tomato from each plant and one pepper, I will be pleased.
